The Nashua Youth Soccer League (NYSL) is a recreational, non-profit, volunteer organization that teaches basic soccer skills to children between the ages of 5 and 19 years old. It has been serving the Nashua area 40 years!
Indoor soccer is similar to outdoor soccer, with a couple of minor modifications due to the smaller playing field.
The Tyngsboro Sport Center has two types of fields, a boarded field (field 1 at the Progress Ave location) and a lined field (fields 2, 3, 4, and 5).
Boarded Feild: The boarded field is shaped something like a hockey rink.
No corner kicks, goal kicks or throw-ins on this type of field - boards keep everything in play.
Free kicks are awarded when the ball goes over the boards.
No knocking people into the boards.
Lined fields have touch and goal lines, just like an outdoor field.
Basic outdoor rules apply with the exceptions listed below.
Both Fields:
Balls that hit the overhead net are considered dead. An indirect kick will be awared to the team that did not kick the ball.
Goal kicks cannot go across three lines
Goalies cannot punt, drop kicks are permitted
Goalie throws cannot cross midfield
Players get substituted during live play (similar to hockey) and do not wait for a dead ball or referee permission.
Add a player to the field when down by 5 goals. Add another player to the field when down by 10 goals (it happens).
Normal outdoor cleats are allowed, as are shorter indoor cleats, or sneakers.
No offsides penalties will be called.
Scoreboard clock is official - referees do not add time to halves.
No slide tackling at any age.
Start times of games are not delayed for late players. If you do not have the players on the field to play at the start of the game, the match is forfeit.
For U8:
All awarded kicks are indirect - no direct kicks or penalty kicks
Play is 5v5 (one keeper and four positional players)
Keeper may only throw the ball - no punts or drop kicks.
